I am Zoe Alexandra Glass
At 38 years old, I was finally diagnosed with Autism along with
learning disabilities and co-occuring issues.
Far before my clinical diagnosis,
I found Jiu Jitsu to replace coping strategies that were harmful to me.
Jiu Jitsu's effect was positive in how it improved my health and let my brain breathe, being the closest thing to meditation I could connect to with its constant problem solving.
It worked to integrate me in my body in ways I never could before, helping to regulate not only my emotions but manage my ADLs (Activities of Daily Living) that I struggle with such as hygiene, food and water intake,
socialization and, later on, employment.
I found community with BJJ and want to share with
the Autism and Disability community at large my love for it
Currently, I am a Brown Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu under
Black Belt Pauline Bak Costa at Lapel Arts Academy,
working in teaching and coach support for the Youth programs we offer.
